I Didn't Earn This
But I'm going to enjoy every minute!
In two days, I will embark on a new journey to Bangkok for a full week of spa treatments, massages, and pampering. I’m even planning on coloring my super short hair to look like my beloved Appalachian mountains in autumn. I am so looking forward to a super-self-care week.
During Daily Body Magic this morning, in our pre-session chat, I was sharing about this and said that I “earned” that spa week by working so hard while I was here in New Zealand. I caught myself immediately and changed that to: “No, my business is my darling, my child. I have been extra devoted to her, so that while I am getting two-hour massages in Bangkok, I won’t feel as if I am neglecting her. Banking devotion to make space for relaxation.
There is nothing I need to earn. But clearly some part of me still has that old belief lodged in there somewhere, or that word wouldn’t have passed my lips in the first place.
In the meantime, I have stories and book chapters outlined and ready to work on whenever I’m inspired to, in airports, planes, and hotel rooms. After Bangkok, a fun overnight stay in Manchester, England. I’m so happy that I get to see my dear friend Molly. We need to give each other a big hug because we both lost our beloved dogs recently.
And I’m beyond thrilled about meeting my new business partner in person. I’ll be rested and pretty and ready for continuing adventures in Pitlochry, Calne, and Transylvania.
Daily Body Magic will shift as I travel around among time zones. Maybe there will be a perfect time for you to give it a try.
With love from wherever I am,
Lauren

At OneSpirit we talk a lot about ministry as a way of being, not just a role. And there is something genuinely ministerial in choosing to rest well, to tend to yourself with the same devotion you'd offer anyone you serve.
Safe and beautiful travels!
